The Hawks won 11 of 14 league games. Their bowlers conceded 7.4 runs per over in the death overs, against a league average of 9.6.

The turnaround came in the middle overs. Until last season the Hawks leaked runs between overs 7 and 15; this year their two spinners shared 31 wickets at an economy of 6.4.

Coach Manoj Pillai (fictional) credits a data analyst hired in March. "We stopped chasing wickets and started choking boundaries," he said. The side also fielded best in the league, with only 14 dropped catches in 14 games.
